Selamat Datang !
We have recently received
an old postcard of St. Peter's Church published by the Photochrom
Co. Ltd. of Tunbridge Wells. It was sent to us by the President of
the Brampton Historical Society, in Ontario, Canada, who suggests
that it may be useful to us as it is older than the photograph on our
website. In the opinion of the Webmaster, it dates from the early to
mid 1920's, noting the new appearance of the Great War Memorial Cross
in the forecourt, but I would welcome any other opinions on the
subject, and will place the photo in the St. Peter's section of the
website at a suitable opportunity. Many thanks to our Canadian
'visitor'.
The John White pages have also been the subject of interest on the part
of a number of people, and also organisations including the American
Museum in Britain (at Bath), and the West Dorset Research Centre, who
are interested in the various migrations from Dorset.
More generally, the number of 'hits' which the website receives is steadily increasing, as the following figure shows.
I'm not sure who our new visitors are in February 2007, but about 5% of
them came from Malaysia, hence 'Selamat Datang', which means 'Welcome'
in Malay. Similar percentages are from Mexico, Japan, and the USA. This
is in contrast to the 2% from the UK, but even so, 12,000 people is
quite a large number of UK visitors in the month!
